Hundreds of acres of land spanning two local counties are under new ownership, and it could mean big things for the area. ArcelorMittal officially announced the sale of about 1,100 acres of supplemental land. The company signed a purchase agreement with Frontier Group of Companies for surplus land adjacent to the Weirton plant.
Business Development Corporation Executive Director Pat Ford says this is welcome news. “The sale is strictly for the surplus lands that are kind of woven in with the operations of the mill,” he said. Buffalo, N.Y. Frontier Group of Companies is no stranger to the area. The group recently led the redevelopment of the nearby Mingo Junction Steel Works.
