Project overview
After the Kammer Plant closure in 2015, many residents feared this facility would slowly fade away and become a memory of the past. In 2017, FGC stepped up and transformed the facility into 75+ acres of prime industrial real estate competitively positioned on the Ohio River. Now, there are over 50 acres that remain available for development.
With proximity to Pittsburgh, PA and Columbus, OH, MIP is uniquely positioned to facilitate the transloading of product for various market clusters. This facility has immediate Class I rail access and river mooring capabilities with the 3 private cells.
History of location (1978 - 2017)
The Kammer Power Plant was a 700 MW cold fired power generating facility that was owned and operated by American Electric Power (AEP). The plant had four boiler units and supplied power to hundreds-of-thousands of homes and businesses in the Ohio River Valley.
The coal chimney, towering over the Valley, stood at 901 ft tall and was one of the tallest in the world. The coal yard was able to hold over 500,000 tons of coal and the facility provided hundreds of good paying jobs for residents in and around Moundsville.
